Project Goals

altafiber partnered with BizStream to elevate its online presence by migrating its website from the legacy Kentico platform to the advanced Kentico Xperience 13. altafiber has always prioritized staying up-to-date with the latest versions of Microsoft and Kentico to ensure their website operates at peak performance, with enhanced security and ongoing support. This project also involved a significant modernization of altafiber.com, including transitioning to Azure Search for improved search functionality. Other goals included:

  • Ensure a robust foundation for long-term success.
  • Modernize the outdated technology stack of the site.
  • Ensure WCAG compliance for the targeted sections of the website.
  • Maintain the existing website’s visual identity while ensuring full responsiveness and implement creative enhancements for specific sections of the site.
  • Enhance the overall user experience, performance, stability, and security of the website.
  • Reduce maintenance costs associated with future upgrades, patches, and hotfixes for altafiber IT.

Challenges

  • Data migration posed a significant challenge.
  • Due to limitations, BizStream couldn’t reconstruct the entire site. Consequently, our team had to skillfully merge elements of the old site with the new, notably the intricate shopping cart experience. Subsequently, extensive regression testing was imperative to ensure precision.

Solutions

  • To address altafiber’s challenges, BizStream utilized the latest technologies, leveraging Kentico Xperience 13 with .NET 6 / ASP.NET Core MVC as the development framework. This ensured the website was built on the most modern and robust platform available.
  • Azure Cognitive Search was integrated to enhance the search functionality across the site, providing faster, more accurate, and intuitive search results. The search now intelligently understands interchangeable terms like “router” and “modem,” significantly improving the user experience.
  • BizStream’s creative team delivered high-fidelity, full-color designs for the sections of the site we revamped, including both desktop and mobile variants, ensuring a consistent and responsive user interface.
  • BizStream enabled altafiber to continue developing on their live production site while our team simultaneously worked on the new site. This approach allowed for seamless integration, with changes being merged into production as needed, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted workflow.
